On March 20, 1987, at the initiative of the First Secretary of the District Committee of the CPSU, Ivan Prokofyevich Shchelkaev, and under the chairmanship of local historian Ivan Petrovich Afanasyev, the Alekseevsky Local History Museum was founded. In 1999 it received state status, and in 2011 it was renamed the Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution "Historical and Local History Museum" of the Alekseevsky municipal district of Samara Oblast. The museum houses valuable household items, archival documents, paleontological finds (for example, mammoth and woolly rhinoceros bones), as well as pieces of decorative and applied art, including items from L.
