\r\nThe City Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened on January 1, 1995 at 35 Neftyanikov Street, UDK. It has two halls with a combined exhibition area of 100 sq. m. The first hall presents information about what occupied the site of Usinsk in earlier times, which animals lived in our region, as well as information about the nomadic life of reindeer herders, the chum (reindeer herders' tent) and its interior. In addition, it features a collection of minerals from the Urals and the Komi Republic. The second hall is dedicated to the history of the city of Usinsk, where visitors can learn about the city's construction and its present-day life, as well as the history and development of various industrial enterprises. The museum also presents films about the discoverer of the Usinsk oil field, G. A. Chernov, about the villages of the Usinsk district, and about the city of Usinsk. The museum's holdings contain 40,883 items of the main collection, including unique mammoth bones and bones of a tragonterine elephant, as well as 218 paintings, including works by the artist V. G. Ignatov and local painters.
