Bataisk City History Museum
About museum
On April 22, 1979, the City History Museum was opened in Bataisk. Previously it was called the "Museum of Revolutionary, Military and Labor Glory", but in 1993, by decision of the head of the administration, it was renamed the City History Museum. Various exhibits are displayed here: interior items from the 18th–19th centuries, documents and photographs reflecting the history of the Bataisk station, Orthodox churches, as well as cultural and educational institutions. Visitors can see a Cossack woman's costume, an old Tula samovar, a washboard, a spinning wheel, a chest, a steam iron, a gramophone and an antique piano. As of today, the museum holds 15,829 items, distributed across 13 different collections: archaeology, graphic arts, documents, painting, industrial and manufacturing graphics, historical household items, history of technology, musical instruments, numismatics, weapons, applied arts, ethnography and sculpture.
