Branch of the Novokuznetsk Local History Museum
About museum
In 1999, a branch of the Novokuznetsk Local History Museum was established in the historic center of Novokuznetsk. It is located in a two-story stone building constructed in 1815, which today is a historical and architectural monument of regional significance. The house was once owned by merchant families, and in 1838 it was purchased for the Kuznetsk county (uyezd) school. In 2010 the branch installed the sculpture "Teacher and Pupil", embodying the trusting relationship between L. N. Tolstoy and V. F. Bulgakov. Today the branch of the Novokuznetsk Local History Museum is a cultural and educational center of the city, where visitors can learn about the history of Kuznetsk at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, and also attend guided tours, lectures, museum festivals, games, and workshops. Entry to the branch grounds and exterior inspection of the building are free.
