Dobrovsky Local History Museum
About museum
The history of the Dobrovsky Local History Museum began in the 1970s, when teacher Alexey Alexandrovich Smetanin of the Dobrovskaya Secondary School decided to collect items of historical significance for the district. He created the first museum in the village, arranging his finds in a vacant building. At first he collected objects of peasant life from the early 20th century, but gradually items of Soviet everyday life were added to the museum. After a successful exhibition at VDNKh in 1977-78, Smetanin managed to reach an agreement with the district administration to transfer an old merchant's house for the museum premises. Thus, since March 22, 1989, the house of third-guild merchant Koshkarov has served as the local history museum. Today it presents exhibitions dedicated to the history of the village.
