Belgorod State Art Museum
About museum
On December 12, 2004, the Government of the Belgorod Region adopted Resolution No. 262 on the construction of an Art Gallery. In 2006-2007, a three-story building was built according to a design by architects V. Pertsev and V. Turchenko. The interior of the building features a smoothly changing space, curved walls, and rich decoration of carved wood, stained glass and wrought metal. Classical techniques of the 'Russian Art Nouveau' style were used in its creation. On November 27, 2007, the Belgorod State Art Museum was opened in the city center with an exhibition of works by the chairman of the Union of Artists of Russia, V. Sidorov, titled 'On Warm Soil'. A characteristic feature of the museum is that it mainly presents Russian fine art of the 20th century, covering the period from the first decade to the present day. Here you can see significant works by well-known artists that provide an idea of the development of national art.
