In 2013 the House of Crafts of the Astrakhan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Folk Culture was established, bringing together artisans interested in the development of folk art and crafts, as well as in passing on their skills to the younger generation. The center offers workshops in pottery, clay modeling, weaving, textiles, wickerwork and chakan, wood carving, and the making of traditional folk dolls, as well as contemporary forms of decorative and applied arts. Tourists are offered guided group and individual tours, and those who wish can learn a chosen craft under the guidance of a mentor. The exhibition hall regularly hosts themed exhibitions, and exclusive handmade items by the masters can be found on the first floor. Children's and family celebrations, rituals, and other events are also held here.
