\r\nIn 2013 the House of Crafts of the Astrakhan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center of Folk Culture was established, bringing together artisans interested in the development of folk art and crafts as well as in passing on their skills to the younger generation. Workshops offered include pottery, clay modeling, weaving, textiles, wickerwork and chakan (a traditional metal embossing technique), wood carving, the making of traditional folk dolls, and contemporary forms of decorative and applied arts. Tourists are offered sightseeing group and individual tours, and those who wish can master a chosen craft under the guidance of a mentor. The exhibition hall regularly hosts themed exhibitions, and on the ground floor you can find exclusive handmade pieces by the masters. Children's and family celebrations, rituals and other events are also held here.
