Ardatov Local History Museum
About museum
Ardatov is one of the oldest towns in Mordovia, known for its distinctive history and the people who live and work on its land. To learn about Ardatov's past and present, you can visit the Ardatov Local History Museum. It was founded in 1975 in the house of legal historian M. N. Gernet. In 1990 the museum moved to the first stone two-storey building, built in 1781. The museum's collections include over 21,000 exhibits representing the history and culture of the Mordovian region. The exhibition halls are organized on a historical-chronological basis: the primitive communal system and the Middle Ages; Mordovia in the 18th–19th centuries; and the region's modern history.
