In the Rare and Valuable Editions sector there is an exhibition 'The Magic of Binding'. The exhibition provides an opportunity to learn about different types of bindings and to examine examples of binding art from the second half of the 19th–20th centuries using books from various collections and fields of knowledge. Many books before the early 20th century were issued with a simple wrapper and later, at the owner's request, were bound in a particular style. Decorative bindings for some books were produced at factories that began to appear in Russia from the late 1860s. The St. Petersburg factory of O. F. Kirchner is responsible for the bindings of 'Complete Collection of Poems by A. A. Fet' (1901), 'Complete Works of I. S. Turgenev' (1898), and others. They are decorated with gold stamping and delightful vegetal ornamentation. Luxurious gift and collector's editions in cloth bindings (velvet, silk), decorated with prints and stamping. However, few know that cloth binding is an originally Russian tradition in book publishing and has a long history. From the very beginning of Russian book printing, a tendency emerged in bookbinding that has partly survived to this day: books bound in expensive fabrics (satin, silk, velvet, brocade, and others) were intended for collections and gifts to wealthy households, while books for ordinary, everyday use were covered in coarse canvas or rough cloth.
The exhibition runs until August 30, 2025.

Mashkov Museum of Fine Arts.
'Exhibition within an Exhibition: Small-scale Sculpture by Vladimir Rukhlin'.
The exhibition is dedicated to the art of Volgograd sculptor Vladimir Aleksandrovich Rukhlin (1935–2016). The intimate exhibition includes about fifteen of his works from the 1950s–2000s, executed in wood, metal, chamotte and in the maiolica technique. The exhibition presents a distinct aspect of Rukhlin's art — small-scale sculpture. He created these throughout his life, achieving high mastery and gaining recognition.
The exhibition runs until July 14, 2025.
