Sulevkent Local History Museum
关于博物馆
The Sulevkent Museum presents the history of the ancient pottery craft of the Dakhadayevsky District of Dagestan. In 1944 the villagers were forced to relocate to Chechnya, and later in 1957 they moved to Khasavyurt. Sulevkent pottery is both functional and decorative; its decoration is based on dark-red clay, S-shaped motifs, wavy and straight lines, spirals, and comma-shaped brushstrokes. The museum exhibits antique Sulevkent items from the 8th–20th centuries, as well as contemporary ceramic ware. The ethnographic section displays household items of the Sulevkent people and costume ensembles. The museum also offers workshops on the production of traditional Sulevkent ceramics, and the museum's collections contain over 700 exhibits. Opened in 2014, the Sulevkent Local History Museum is a branch of the National Museum of Dagestan named after A. Taho-Godi.
