Exhibition 'Time in the Square'

About exhibition

The exhibition 'Time in the Square' is a collaborative project by Alexey Valentinovich Pakhnevich, Candidate of Biological Sciences and Senior Researcher at the A.A. Borisyak Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Tula Regional Museum of Local History. The display is devoted to the interrelation of geological and historical time, embodied in architectural monuments and the natural materials from which they are made. Visitors will be able to see photographs of buildings in Tula, the Tula region, as well as other regions of Russia and Western Europe. These structures not only preserve traces of human history but also carry the memory of life on Earth from past geological epochs: fossilized imprints of ancient plants and animals can be discerned in their stone textures. The exhibition also features authentic fossil specimens from museum collections and private collections, enabling a deeper appreciation of the scale of time recorded in stone.
