The Khudyakovs' estate in Balakhna is a unique building with a main two-story residential house, a single-story stone wing, stone gates, a wooden stable and a garden. The museum presents exhibitions showing the everyday life of Balakhna's merchant class in the 19th–20th centuries: Khudyakov's study, the formal music hall, the ladies' room, a children's room, a samovar exhibition and a dining room. On the first floor are the exhibitions 'Balakhna Shipbuilding', 'Peasant Life' and a workshop for traditional clay whistles. On the second floor there are collections of artworks and household items.

\r\nOn the second floor there are collections of artworks and a hall with works of art and household items. The most valuable items are a collection of Russian and foreign Slavic manuscripts and icons, as well as various interior items. The estate is a people's heritage and attracts many tourists. It is a genuine monument to the history and culture of Balakhna. Here visitors can feel the coziness and explore the city's traditional culture.
