Seversky Museum of History and Local Lore
About museum
The museum was established in 1969 after a year-and-a-half of work by an initiative group led by historian Klavdiya Dmitrievna Kovalenko-Karnaukhova. Artist Mikhail Afanasevich Litvinov participated in the museum's artistic design. In 1970 the museum received the status of a people's museum, and in 2005 it was transformed into a municipal institution. The exhibition is organized according to a historical-chronological principle and reveals the development of the district from ancient times. The museum's thematic sections reflect periods of history such as the incorporation of the Kuban's right bank into Russia, the Caucasian War, the resettlement of Cossacks and peasants to the area beyond the Kuban (Trans-Kuban), the everyday life and occupations of the stanitsa (Cossack village) inhabitants, popular education and culture, economic development, the Civil War, the socio-economic and political history of the Seversky district in the 20th century, as well as the Victory over Nazi Germany. Eternal memory to the honored heroes.
