Sharypovo Historical and Local History Museum
About museum
On September 24, 1986, a museum was opened on a voluntary/public basis in the town of Chernenko. It is dedicated to the life of the famous compatriot, General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee K. U. Chernenko, and to the development of the Kansk-Achinsk fuel and energy complex. In 1994 it was included in the state network of museums. The museum houses over 4,000 items in the fields of geology, paleontology, archaeology, and ethnography. In 2010 new exhibition halls were opened. One of them is devoted to archaeological finds, and the other to the everyday life and culture of the Siberian village from the late 19th to the mid-20th century. There are also exhibits dedicated to the history of the construction of the city of Sharypovo and the erection of KATEK facilities. In addition, a House of Crafts operates here, where artisans engage in stone and wood carving, macramé, and patchwork sewing.
