Salsk Museum named after V.K. Nechitaylo
About museum
On October 13, 1977 the Secretariat of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR transferred to the town of Salsk a collection of Soviet fine art, which became the founding date of the Salsk Art Museum named after People's Artist of the RSFSR V.K. Nechitaylo. Over thirty years the museum's holdings were supplemented with works by Don artists, including K.E. Balanova, T.F. Teryaeva, V.F. Shcheblanova, S.S. and L.S. Skoptsov, B.T. Sporykhina, A.V. Timofeeva, and A.S. Kulagina. One of the museum's main attractions is the exhibition "My Sorrow Is Light", consisting of works on the life and art of A.S. Pushkin. In addition, the museum houses a collection of graphic works, paintings, documents and personal belongings of V.K. Nechitaylo, People's Artist of the RSFSR. Over thirty years a special collection has been formed that attracts visitors' attention.
