Purekhov Local History Museum named after D.M. Pozharsky
About museum
The House of Culture in the village of Purekh houses the Purekhov Local History Museum named after D. M. Pozharsky, which is located in an ideal spot — on the central square next to the Transfiguration Church, offering a wonderful view of the landscape. The museum presents exhibitions about the Time of Troubles, portraits of Dmitry Pozharsky and Kuzma Minin, as well as a map of Muscovy and a local history section where items from the everyday life of local residents are collected. The main exhibit is the casting of small bells, a craft that has long been famous in the Purekh area and was not inferior to that of Valday. Here you can gain an understanding of the past and learn about 17th-century Russian history, as well as feel the spirit of everyday life and culture of the small homeland. A visit to the museum will be useful for everyone — both for residents of Russia and for guests from abroad.
