Pospelikhinsky District Local History Museum
About museum
The Pospelikhinsky Local History Museum was established on a voluntary basis in the 1980s. The idea for its opening belonged to the district committee of the CPSU. Today the museum has an interesting collection of holdings. Most prominently exhibited is the world of the Altai village of the late 19th – early 20th centuries: traditional peasant clothing, women's handicrafts, and household utensils. The collection on the history of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War is of great interest; it includes original documents, photographs, weapons, awards, and everyday items. The 'Nature' section introduces the animal world, ancient natural history, and mineral resources, while the 'Archaeology' section presents ancient historical monuments: fragments of ceramics from the 15th–17th centuries, stones with traces of hand processing, and coins from a hoard. In the art section, the core of the exhibition consists of original paintings by Moscow, Altai, and Pospelikhinsky artists.
