The First Gallery of Contemporary Art is a non-profit art institution of Dagestan, founded on August 20, 1998 in Makhachkala. Since 2009 it has been located in Kaspiysk. The gallery's mission is to popularize contemporary art and folk culture, and to discover and develop new trends and artists. Over 20 years it has organized more than 400 exhibitions, introduced over 30 new artists, and published more than 15 albums and collections with a total print run of 4,000 copies. Each exhibition is accompanied by the publication of a catalog or booklet, with a combined circulation exceeding 10,000 copies. Thus, the gallery makes a significant contribution to the development of Dagestan's art and culture.
