Kurgan Aviation Museum was founded in 1985 and is the departmental museum of the Kurgan Combined Aviation Unit of Civil Aviation of the USSR. The museum houses a permanent exhibition "History of Civil Aviation of the Trans-Urals", which covers the period from 1912 to 2000. It includes 220 museum items such as documents, photographs, awards, uniforms, an air traffic controller trainer and an An-2 flight simulator, an M-11 aircraft engine, scale models of the Po-2 and An-2, as well as examples of ground radio-technical equipment. The museum also has a collection of 15 aircraft, including MiG-17 and MiG-21PF fighters, the Su-25 ground-attack aircraft, the multipurpose An-2, the passenger An-24B and others. The museum also presents two exhibitions: "Sports Aviation of the Trans-Urals" and "Flight Uniforms and Equipment of Air Force Crews, 1930s–2000s."
