Ostashkov Local History Museum
About museum
Ostashkov Local History Museum was founded in 1889 in the city school. In 1924 it became a branch of the Tver State United Museum (State Budgetary Cultural Institution of the Tver Region, GBUK TGOM). It occupies three buildings that are cultural heritage sites. The Trinity Cathedral hosts two exhibitions: "The Historical Past of the Seliger Region" and "There Is and Always Will Be the Forty-Fifth", dedicated to the contribution of Ostashkov residents to the Great Patriotic War. In the cathedral's central block there is the exhibition "From the Wooden Spoon to the Foreign Plate", and on the bell tower of the Trinity Cathedral is the exhibition "Ostashkov Bell Towers and Bells". The Resurrection Church houses a concert and exhibition hall where concerts of the "Musical Evenings on Seliger" festival are held. The building on Volodarsky Street contains the museum's depository and an exhibition hall that tells about peasant and urban ways of life. The museum hosts various events, concerts, festivals, and lessons in local history and the history of the Fatherland.
