Oktyabrsky Historical and Local Lore Museum named after A.P. Shokurov
About museum
In 1957 a local history museum was opened in Oktyabrsky, created on the basis of archaeological collections gathered by archaeologist-local historian Anisim Pavlovich Shokurov. The museum's collection was supplemented by Shokurov's surveys of the surrounding area and other districts of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan. In 1980 the museum acquired state status and became a branch of the National Museum of the Republic of Bashkortostan. In 2013 the museum became municipal, with a collection of more than 32 thousand storage units. It presents items of archaeology, geology and ethnography, as well as artworks from the USSR art fund donated by artists and paintings by A.P. Shokurov. Particularly notable is the series of works by war photojournalist E. A. Khaldei 'From Murmansk to Berlin'. The museum holds various events and programs dedicated to the city day and local holidays.
