Novosil District Local History Museum
About museum
In 1985 the Novosil District Local History Museum was officially opened in Novosil, although the first mention of it dates back to 1910. During the Great Patriotic War the museum was destroyed, and the Kaznacheevs, Aleksey Vasilievich and Maria Andreevna, decided to restore it for future generations and to preserve the memory of the war. As a result, a collection of exhibits was assembled. Today the museum has more than four thousand items in its holdings covering archaeology, ethnography, cultural history, the wartime and postwar periods, as well as Soviet everyday life. The museum halls are always open to visitors of all ages.
