Naro-Fominsk Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
\r\nNaro-Fominsk Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened on May 9, 1973, in the building of the St. Nicholas Church. In memory of those who died, a memorial was installed next to the church — a T-34 tank and an Eternal Flame. After restoration, the museum opened inside the church, and since 1991 it has been located on the city's main street. At present, the museum's collections total more than 25,000 exhibits that tell about the ancient history of the Naro-Fominsk region, the life and everyday life of the peasants and workers of the Naro-Fominsk spinning and weaving factory in the 19th — early 20th centuries, the events of the Great Patriotic War, the feats during the Battle of Moscow, and the local heroes. A special place in the museum is occupied by materials about Hero of Russia Vera Voloshina — her personal belongings, books, letters, and photographs. In addition, the museum presents exhibitions "Naro-Fominsk — City of Military Glory", "Sounds of Music from the Past...", "A City Famous for Its People", "Afghanistan — Our Memory and Pain" and others. The museum halls display valuable documents, photographs, and genuine frontline items of participants in the battles of October — December 1941.
