Museum Department 'Sit'
About museum
The 'Sit' museum department of the Nekouz Cultural and Ethnographic Center has been operating in the village of Pravdino since 2008. It is housed in the former Pravdinskaya primary school building, designed by Nikolai Yuryevich Lermontov in 1910. The center is dedicated to the Siti — a legendary and mysterious river associated with distant events of 1238. It also presents the history of the sitskari, a people with their own distinct culture and language. The museum displays a collection of Sit axes and agricultural implements. There is also information on the cultivation of 'northern silk' and on the characteristics of the Soviet rural school. The museum exhibits more than a thousand items collected from nearby villages and settlements by local history enthusiast Vladimir Mikhailovich Zholudev. Here visitors can learn about the ancient history of the region and gain a wealth of useful and interesting knowledge.
