Suyda Estate Museum
About museum
A natural monument 'Suyda Estate Museum' was established in Suyda. It presents the history of the manor and the life of A. P. Hannibal, his descendants, as well as the history of the Hannibal family closely related to the poet.
Since 1999 the former estate of A. P. Hannibal in Suyda has operated as the Suyda Estate Museum. It all began in the 18th century when Peter I granted the Suyda lands to his associate Count Apraksin, where a park with alleys, canals, a pavilion and a humpbacked bridge was created. In 1759 Abram Petrovich Hannibal, a native of Africa, acquired the manor and lived here until his death. Nadezhda Osipovna Hannibal, the mother of A. S. Pushkin, was born in Suyda; she was married in the local church in 1796. In 1986 a public Museum of Suyda History was opened, and in 1999, in honor of the 200th anniversary of A. S. Pushkin's birth, the 'Suyda Estate Museum' was opened. The museum presents the history of the manor and the life of A. P. Hannibal, as well as the history of the Hannibal family close to the poet. The museum displays the guest wing rebuilt in 1950, the manager's house, the stables and the greenhouse.
