Seto People's Manor Museum
About museum
The Seto People's Manor Museum in the village of Sigovo is the only museum in Russia dedicated to the small Finno-Ugric Seto people, who have preserved a unique material and spiritual culture. For many centuries the Seto people lived in the border regions of Estonian and Russian lands; their ethnic history has not yet been fully revealed.
The museum is located in the authentic manor of the Külots family. The manor took shape in the late 19th — early 20th century. At present the manor consists of a stone residential house with a wooden entrance hall (seni), a stone cattle shed and a kleti (barn/granary) built in 1899, and a small bathhouse. The collections presented in the museum (furniture, household utensils, clothing, agricultural tools, etc.) are the result of many years of collecting and research work.
Native Seto people — native speakers — work at the museum. They conduct tours and interactive programs for children and adults. Here you can get acquainted with the unique culture, traditions and cuisine of the Seto people.
