Kostroma Cheese Museum
About museum
In the Reshchikov House, an old merchant mansion dating from the late 18th century, guests are invited to an entertaining interactive tour. Cheerful cheese sommeliers will guide you through the halls of the extensive exhibition, tell many surprising and entirely unverified facts about cheesemaking, and share stories about unusual cheese varieties, cheese lore, and legends. Here you will see a collection of cows and cheese-making equipment, learn about the stages of cheese production and the antique tools used for it. You will also be able to milk a cow and chase mice. During the tasting you will learn how to properly eat and store cheese, and after sampling pieces of the best varieties of natural Kostroma cheeses you can buy more of the fragrant Kostroma “gold” in the cheese shop. Here you will find soft and semi-hard cheeses: Parmesan, Gruyère, Maasdam, chèvre, burrata and others. All cheeses are packed in attractive branded boxes and vacuum-sealed. Come to Cheese Kostroma — say 'cheese!'
