Miners' Glory Museum
About museum
In August 2007 the Miners' Glory Museum was opened at the Palace of Culture of Coal Miners in Belovo at the initiative of the city's Council of Veterans of the coal industry and A. A. Storozhilov, an honorary citizen of Kemerovo Oblast and a Honored Miner of the RSFSR. It is now part of the city's Museum and Exhibition Center and serves not only cultural and educational purposes but also performs formative functions related to preserving the unique history of the Belovsky mine and the memory of people associated with coal mining. The museum's exhibition includes photographic and documentary materials, labor and sports awards, paintings by miner-artists, books, poems by Belovo's miner-poets, and other exhibits. Thanks to the active life stance and rich experience of the museum's main supporters, interactive formats prevail, allowing visitors, even the very young, to feel like miners by putting on a hard hat, a self-rescue device, a respirator, and other mining gear.
