Museum 'Nature of the Sea and Its Protection'

The 'Nature of the Sea and Its Protection' museum, with an area of 240 sq. m., is part of the Environmental Education Department of the Far Eastern Marine Reserve. It presents data on the condition of the marine environment of the Far Eastern seas, the animal and plant life of the Sea of Japan, inhabitants of tropical seas, fisheries and whales of the Far Eastern seas, mariculture, and the Far Eastern Marine Biosphere Reserve. Visitors can see an aquarium exhibition with marine inhabitants and an open-access pool, as well as the archaeological and ethnographic complex 'Heritage' with reconstructed residential, domestic, and ritual structures of the ancient population and the indigenous peoples of Primorye. The constructions and interiors of dwellings of the Krounov culture from the late 1st millennium BCE to the early 1st millennium CE are displayed here. The museum hosts master classes and themed activities for schoolchildren, and also offers educational nature excursions around the island.
