About museum

The Young Museum of Fashion and Tailoring Art was founded by practicing designer Olga Rykhlova-Parle in 2021. Having become acquainted with the work of Nadezhda Lamanova, she was struck by the talent and fate of this remarkable woman — a legend of Russian fashion, who is today called the first Russian couturier and the Russian Chanel.

The museum was opened in the year of the 160th anniversary of Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova's birth in the historic part of Nizhny Novgorod, on the old winding lane Zapochainya.

The museum will open the mysterious world of fashion:

it will introduce the biography of the great Russian couturier Nadezhda Petrovna Lamanova;
surprise with the history of irons from the earliest times to the present day;
reveal the secret of "Korne de bal";
tell the most interesting facts about sewing machines;
uncover the secrets of tailoring art;
offer the opportunity to make a wish on a magic button!
The permanent exhibition features unique collections of sewing machines, thimbles, irons, cameras, antique men's and women's garments, and tools for making clothing (spinning wheels, skalna, a loom).

The museum often hosts various themed exhibitions, such as "Kokoshniks: Sacred Meanings" and "The Perfect Pair" (more than 50 ideal pairs of accessories that have traveled through time).
