Cat Museum "MURARIUM"
About museum
In 1905 in the town of Krantse (the former name of Zelenogradsk) a water tower nearly 40 meters high was built in the style of historic eclecticism. It became a city symbol and was one of the town's dominant heights. In 2006 a large-scale reconstruction of the tower began with careful preservation of all historic elements, after which each floor displayed: figurines, paintings, dolls, accessories and soft toys depicting cats. Subsequently these our lesser brethren became the symbol of Zelenogradsk in modern times!
The thematic collection is considered the most extensive in Europe and comprises about 5,000 art objects. At the end of the exhibition visit, guests reach an observation platform with a picturesque view offering a panoramic overview of the cozy town and the Baltic Sea.
