Museum of Bells
About museum
In June 1995, in the palace church built to the design of N. A. Lvov for Empress Catherine II, the Museum of Bells was opened. There you can learn why European bells sing while Russian bells 'speak', who the master of the crimson chime Jo Haazen was, what the bianzhong, the 'yamskaya garmon' and the carillon have in common, how the Russian 'doroga' sounded one and a half centuries ago and whether the Novgorod veche bell still survives. The museum presents materials on the history of campanology, as well as information on the current state of the bell-making craft and the art of bell-ringing. Here you can learn about the major researchers and collectors, bell-manufacturing plants, and the artisans who make bell souvenirs for the museum. At the Museum of Bells you can obtain detailed information about everything related to bells. Come in and explore this world!
