The Museum of Military and Labor Glory of the Omsk Institute of Railway Engineers (OmIIT) was opened on May 7, 1975. Veteran of the railway troops O. V. Gall-Sovalsky became its first director. In 1984–85 a major reconstruction was carried out, which led to an increase in the museum's area. It was reopened on May 7, 1985, with WWII veteran I. Ya. Feklistov as the head. From 1991 to 2006 the museum was led by V. P. Bogdanov, and since 2006 the head has been I. I. Reznik, an artist at OmGUPS. The museum's exhibition introduces visitors to the history of the university since its founding in 1900 in the city of Tomsk. Visitors can also learn about famous scholars, their research, the rectors, notable alumni, sporting achievements, and international relations. The exhibition includes displays on the history and activities of faculties, institutes, departments, the library, and the newspaper "Transportnik." In 2006 I. I. Reznik collected materials and prepared a display on the history of the university building and V. F. Winkler.
