Museum of the History of the Motovilikha Plants
About museum
In 1976, by decision of the plant management and the party organization, the Museum of the History of the Motovilikha Plants was opened. It is presented in two exhibitions: in a 19th-century building protected as an architectural monument, and in an open-air area. The museum houses exhibits documenting the history of the plant from 1736 to the present. In particular, in the lower part of the building there is a full-scale reconstruction of a copper mine — the first production facility, after the opening of which Perm became a city. The museum preserves a sample of a welding machine invented by the plant's mining superintendent Nikolay Slavyanov — a major milestone in industrial development. In addition, there are displays about Motovilikha's participation in revolutionary events, the industrial surge of the 1930s, wartime heroism during the Great Patriotic War (World War II), and the difficult conversion years of the 1990s. The exhibits collected in the museum represent the history of the plant and Perm's industry over almost a three-century period.
