Museum of History and Development of the Gorky Railway

The Gorky Main Line is one of the oldest railways in Russia; it was established in 1862. Its rich history is reflected in the exhibitions of the division for the preservation of the railway's historical heritage.
The exhibition consists of several thematic sections:
"History of the Gorky Railway and territorial administrations";
"History of the services and enterprises of the Gorky Railway";
"The railway and railway workers during the Great Patriotic War (World War II)";
"Everyday life of railway workers in the 1940s–1950s";
"Historical drawing room";
"The platform of Moscow Station at the end of the 19th — beginning of the 20th century".
The museum's collections include authentic items, photographs and documents, as well as unique, highly detailed models. Visitors to the exhibition can learn about the origins of international and domestic locomotive building, the reasons for constructing the railway from Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow, the major milestones in the history of the Gorky Main Line and prospects for its development, as well as railway professions of the past and present.
