M. A. Vrubel Museum — Governor-General's Palace
About museum
The Governor-General's Palace is a two-story stone palazzo in the Neo-Renaissance style, with a belvedere and a flagpole. It was built in 1859–1862 to a design by architect F. F. Wagner and engineer K. E. Lazorev for Governor-General G. Kh. Gasford. Until 1917 it served as the residence of the Governor-Generals of Western Siberia and the Steppe Region. For example, from 1866 to 1875 the Governor-General here was A. P. Khrushchev, and from 1875 to 1881 N. G. Kazankov, who did much to promote education and science in Siberia. In 1917 the palace was seized by the Bolsheviks.
