About museum
On the site of the former People’s House there is a multimedia exhibition complex created as a project of the Kirillo‑Belozersky Museum‑Reserve and the Russian Military‑Historical Society. It is intended to cover Soviet aviation during the Great Patriotic War (World War II) and presents the stories of pilots, wartime participants, aircraft designers and designers of aviation armaments. Special attention is paid to the life of Yevgeny Nikolaevich Preobrazhensky, who was born and raised in the Kirillov area. Also presented are the stories of natives of Kirillovsky District and Vologda Oblast who were connected with aviation, including aircraft designer S. V. Ilyushin, aviation‑weapons designer M. E. Berezin, Hero of the Soviet Union V. N. Kalachev, the veteran Russian aviators and participants of the First World War, the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War I. G. Chuchin and S. A. Melnikov, Major General of Aviation A. F. Obukhov, Lieutenant Colonel of Aviation N. Z. Pavlov, and squadron commander Major A. V. Vinogradov.
