Decorative, Applied and Folk Art Museum, Tula
About museum
On the grounds of the Tula Kremlin a museum began operating in a former power station; today it welcomes visitors on a historic street in central Tula. The exhibition is based on authentic items from the collections of the IKHM Association. The first hall presents the world of handcraft with its myths, rituals, calendar cycle and pantheon of deities. The second hall acquaints visitors with the lifestyle of affluent townspeople. Elegant mantel clocks made of bronze, onyx and malachite, bulotki (various in form and finish), kerosene lamps, snuff boxes, beaded purses and jewelry boxes - all are displayed in the museum. Visitors can appreciate the high artistic value of the pieces created by the craftsmen.
