Tea Museum

About museum

In 2018, the Tea Museum was opened at 91 Fontanka Embankment. This historic house of merchant Gorstkin has attracted visitors since 1882, when the first tea shop appeared here. Today the museum presents more than 400 exhibits and tea installations that introduce visitors to the history of tea, its varieties, and the cultures of the countries where it is grown. In addition, the museum offers tastings of six special tea varieties. Many 19th-century documents and items that confirm the importance of tea to Russia are also collected here. The museum also has the largest tea shop in the city, where you can buy tea from China, Sri Lanka, and India with a guarantee of authenticity. There is also a tea café, the Society of Friendship with Sri Lanka, a tea culture club, and the editorial office of the newspaper 'Sea of Tea'.
