About museum
In 2016, on the anniversary of Alexey Petrovich Maresyev, the A.P. Maresyev Center for Patriotic Education was opened in the historic part of Kamyshin. On the first floor there is the Alexey Maresyev Museum, consisting of four halls. The first hall, 'Wings of a Dream', tells about his childhood, school, military service and the Bataysk military pilot school. The second hall, 'Will to Live', displays documents and information about the crash in April 1942 near Plav and about his recovery and return to the 'Stalin's Falcons' squadron. The third hall, 'Ambassador of Peace', reveals Alexey Maresyev's postwar biography, and in the fourth hall, 'Air Battle', 3D projections of the aerial battles over the Kursk salient are shown. The museum offers guided and individual tours, quests and lectures for schoolchildren, students and visitors to the city on the Volga. Visitors are interested in the life of the Hero of the Soviet Union, the military pilot who brought renown to his homeland.
