Mozhga Historical and Local Lore Museum
About museum
The 1930s were an important period for the town of Mozhga; during that time a local history museum was opened, featuring sections on history, archaeology, paleontology and ethnography. A notice about its opening was published on January 9, 1936 in the newspaper Izhevskaya Pravda. Unfortunately, after 1946 the museum was closed; however, in 1975, when the town celebrated its 50th anniversary, a decision was made to restore the museum. Nikolai Ivanovich Maksimov was appointed to the leadership position. Today the museum is a cultural center of Udmurtia, hosting scientific and historical events and housing collections on the region's history, art and nature. Various club groups also operate here; they have made a significant contribution to preserving the historical and cultural heritage and selflessly serve the common noble cause.
