Konstantin Vasilyev Memorial Museum
About museum
Opening of the Konstantin Vasilyev Memorial Museum was an honorable event dedicated to the memory of the outstanding artist. In 1994 the head of the administration of the Zelenodolsk district and the city of Zelenodolsk, Kh. K. Khayrutdinov, decided to open the museum in the house where Konstantin Andreevich had lived for 20 years. After the Vasilyev family moved, the house was threatened with ruin. Friends of the artist and admirers of his work began to search for funds to restore the house. In 1994 I. N. Kuznetsova headed the restoration works. In 1996 the Konstantin Vasilyev Memorial Museum was opened. In 2002 the museum's exhibition space was expanded and consists of two parts: memorial and biographical. This museum allows fans of Konstantin Vasilyev's work to become familiar with the atmosphere that surrounded the artist, and to view his paintings, photographs and reproductions.
