Mtsensk City Local History Museum is one of the oldest in the region and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. It consists of 8 halls presenting the history of the city of Mtsensk. The exhibition reflects the development of crafts and trade, progressive society, the periods of the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War, as well as interesting themes: 'Mtsensk Fortress', 'Introduction of Christianity', 'Everyday Life and Trades of the 19th Century', 'Religious Buildings', 'Notable Fellow Countrymen', 'The First Tank Guards' and others. In 2015 an Art Department was opened in the museum, where temporary exhibitions are held, making the exhibition more engaging. The museum is not only a place for pleasant leisure, but also an educational center where one can learn about the history and culture of the city of Mtsensk.
