Eduard Steinberg's Studio
About museum
Eduard Arkadyevich Steinberg (1937–2012) was one of the most prominent representatives of the second wave of the Russian avant-garde. In his work he combined the plasticity of the avant-garde with icon painting. Steinberg spent his entire life in Tarusa, where he began his artistic career. He spent the winter months in Paris and the summers in his house in Tarusa. In 2016 the studio was transferred to the State Museum of Fine Arts named after A. S. Pushkin. There you can watch a film about the artist’s life, explore documentary materials, see the artist’s personal belongings, and listen to an audio tour. During the summer period a series of events dedicated to Eduard Steinberg’s work takes place here. The project presents the legacy of a master of nonconformist art and demonstrates how his ideas are interpreted in contemporary culture.
