About museum
Loktevsky Local History Museum was opened on May 9, 1985. Here visitors can view the exhibitions: 'The Great Patriotic War, 1941–1945', 'History of Mining' and 'Nature of the Loktevsky District'. The museum also has an exhibition hall where exhibitions of works by local artists, schoolchildren, children from the orphanage and kindergartens, craftsmen and handicraft makers are held. During the Great Patriotic War seven residents of Loktev were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, including three defenders of Moscow among the 28 Panfilov soldiers. The Great Patriotic War hall presents a collection of materials about the Panfilov heroes who blocked the path of German-fascist tanks to the capital. The exhibition on the history of mining tells about the activities of Loktev residents during the Great Patriotic War and about the construction of a mine for the needs of defense and the postwar restoration of the economy. The nature hall displays specimens of the local fauna and flora.
