\r\nThe history of the Lipetsk Historical and Cultural Museum began in 1996, when the Center for Decorative, Applied and Folk Arts for Children and Youth was founded. It laid the foundation for assembling collections of folk costumes, peasant household items and the handicrafts of the Lipetsk region. In 2014 the project "Greetings from Lipetsk of the 20th Century" was launched, which allowed the museum to add objects from the Soviet era to its collections. In 2016 a branch of the museum located in the building of the former 19th-century city administration was opened, and the "Lipetsk Stories" project in 2021 led to the collection of numerous memories about the city. Today the museum combines rural and urban culture, represented by peasant household items, folk costumes, and objects of folk crafts and trades of the Lipetsk region. The museum also preserves the history of the city and its inhabitants during the Soviet period.
