Levokumsky Historical and Local History Museum named after V.R. Yasinov
About museum
On October 8, 1999, the Levokumsky Historical and Local History Museum was opened, established to preserve and study the cultural heritage of the past. The founder of the museum is Vasiliy Rodionovich Yasinovich — a well-known local historian. The museum's halls transport visitors to different eras: the 1st–2nd millennia BCE, the Medieval period when the Azov-Mozdok defensive line was created, and the time when the ancestors of the present-day residents of Levokumye appeared in the area. The museum displays artifacts related to the first settlements on this land, as well as panels recounting the great battles of the Great Patriotic War and the Levokum residents who took part in them. In the third hall, visitors can learn about the way of life of the first settlers of Levokumye. Particular attention is drawn to a vivid showcase presenting the remarkable sub-ethnic group of the Nekrasov Cossacks, who returned to their historical homeland in the early 1960s.
