Kursk Historical and Ethnographic Museum
About museum
The Oktyabrsky Local History Museum was established by a decree of the head of the Oktyabrsky District administration in Pryamitsyno on the thirtieth anniversary of the Oktyabrsky District of the Kursk Region, January 11, 2001. In 2006 the Oktyabrsky Local History Museum became a branch of OBUK 'Kursk State Museum of Archaeology', and in December of the same year it was designated a Historical and Ethnographic Museum. Today the museum's collections contain almost three thousand items. The most interesting of them are on display in the exhibition halls. Visitors are offered general and themed tours, lectures, exhibitions, meetings with interesting people, and interactive games. Museum staff also take part in preparing and conducting patriotic events in the district, as well as memorial rallies and lessons in courage at schools. The museum's most important task is to perpetuate the memory of its famous fellow countrymen.
