Local History Museum 'Pyshchuganye'
About museum
The Local History Museum 'Pyshchuganye' of the Pyshchugsky Municipal District of Kostroma Oblast was opened on December 9, 1994 to a large crowd. The idea of creating the museum appeared in the 1980s and was supported by the local community. The museum is located on the site of the ancestral home of the Fokin family. There is a hall dedicated to Vitaly Alekseyevich Fokin, who began his career serving as a sailor on the cruiser Aurora and ended it with the rank of admiral. The museum also exhibits works by Alexey Nikiforovich Kozlov, a native of the Pyshchug area. Here you can learn about the history of the Pyshchug lands, recorded in 1616. The museum's displays cover the everyday life of local peasants of the 18th–19th centuries, folk costumes, and more. Exhibitions, concerts, literary evenings, and creative workshops are also held.
