House-Museum of G. V. Chicherin
About museum
On December 12, 1987 the House-Museum of G. V. Chicherin was opened in the former noble house of the Russian diplomat V. N. Chicherin (father of G. V. Chicherin). The childhood years of the well-known Russian diplomat, historian, publicist, musician and musicologist were spent here. The house imitates the architecture of the first half of the 19th century and recreates the atmosphere of the Chicherin family home. The exhibition introduces visitors to the life and work of G. V. Chicherin, based on original photographs, letters, official documents and memorial displays. The mezzanine contains the childhood rooms of Georgy, Nikolai and Sofia, which help to convey the characters of the people who lived in the house. The museum also presents the life and activities of the prominent scholar and public figure Boris Nikolaevich Chicherin. A rigorous scholarly approach to the presentation and the subtly conveyed atmosphere of the Chicherin home make a visit to the museum unforgettable.
